How did you get started as a Pin Up model?
I had modelled off and on since my teens, but it was a suggestion by my Mom one day that actually gelled my love of the classic pinup, my creative urges, my keen interest in photography and love of pinup art together. At the time, my Mom had cancer so I had quite my day job so that I could care for her 24-7. I had tried to continue with my writing but it seemed all that I was able to write about was the deathly darkness that surrounded us at that time - not something an author of romantic fiction usually (wants to) writes about. I desperately needed a balance between the “light” and “dark”, and a way to express my creativeness. We were looking through an art book by Vargas, one of my favorite pinup artists, after one of her chemo treatments and she said, “Kay, why don’t you do this on the internet, you’re so pretty and smart, you could run your own business!” That day, I began teaching myself html and the rest is history!
What’s your favorite part of your modeling job?
All parts! From the hair and make-up to the garters and stockings, from the lighting set-up to the set design, from the web design to the interaction with fans - I love it all! I take great pride and enjoyment in every step of the process, I am truly blessed to be able to work at something I love so dearly.
Does your love and look of a Pin Up carry over into the “real world” or off camera?
Absolutely! I’m a true glamour gal at heart, I always have been. By early teens, I was on the hunt for the right shade of red lip gloss and filing my nails to a perfect point. Stockings are as much a vital part of my wardrobe as jeans and runners are for everyone else. I do have casual days in sweats, of course, but I never leave my house without lipstick, and yes, I can run in high-heels!
How does it feel to be a “sex symbol?”
In the words of Marilyn Monroe, “If I’m going to be a symbol of something, I’d rather it be sex than some of the things we’ve got symbols of…” When a bombshell enters a room, everyone looks. When she leaves a room, everyone looks - not because she is more beautiful than other women but because her magnetism flows from within, and it touches people. She is not censored, careful or contrived - she is comfortable and familiar with her body and celebrates it. I am a sensual being and will never edit that.
What are some of your credits as a Pin Up model?
I’ve been voted Pinup of the Year by a number of organizations, been voted Cheesecake Queen at JBP, have won and placed in a number of on-line pinup contests, and have been painted and rendered in over 100 artworks by many of today’s most talented pinup and contemporary artists. I am officially sponsored by Secrets In Lace and Sheer Miracle but I consider the success of my official website, PinupGlamour.com to be the greatest achievement - after several years on-line, it’s doing better now than ever!
What is your main Pin Up genre?
I’m not sure if I can be neatly tucked into a genre, or if I want to be, but certainly retro-styled, greatly influenced by the 50’s and classic pinup. Fetish, maybe, in terms of my love of stockings and heels, and for dessert, definitely a little bit of cheesecake!
What is your favorite:
Food: Steak and Lobster
Color: Red
Music: I love all music but anything from the 50’s makes me swoon
What is your greatest passion?
Writing. Creating artistic and sensual imagery is definitely a passion of mine and touches many of the people a lot of the time, but it’s through the written word that I am able to touch more people, more of the time.
Are you married or invovled?
I am very happily married.
If so how does your significant other feel about what you do?
He celebrates my passion for pinup as strongly as I do. He’s been my biggest supporter through the years and he’s also my photographer! I wouldn’t be where I am without him.
